Alexander Forbes is inviting applications for 2017 Human Resources Learnerships from unemployed South Africans with only Matric / Grade 12 certificate. This position will be based within the financial services group’s Cape Town offices. The learnership is part of the Alexander Forbes Young Talent Development programme which is geared towards offering workplace exposure to unemployed, qualified individuals within the financial service industry. A monthly learnership allowance will be paid for the duration of the learnership programme.

Bursary applications are invited from candidates currently writing their Grade 12 examinations, for prospective first-year University students for the 2017 academic year which will be extended to a maximum of three years provided that the candidate adheres to the bursary conditions.

The bursary is restricted to full-time study and attendance at an accredited University (not a University of Technology) and is eligible to individuals from historically disadvantaged societal groups or individuals with disabilities whose parents / guardians are residents within the Saldanha Bay Municipal Area. The maximum estimated bursary amount for 2017 is R50 000 per student.

Applicants who intend to study in the following field and whom have been accepted by a University will be considered: Studying towards a Bachelor’s degree with Financial Accounting as a major subject.

Social Media Internships

The MSF SA Digital Team plans, executes and actively manages online content, digital campaigns, social media and fundraising initiatives. The team is currently made up of four (4) individuals- two (2) from the Communications Department and two (2) from the Fundraising Department.

We make data-driven decisions about which messages to share and where/when to share them. We are always looking for new ways to engage with the South African audience online and inspire them to act.

We actively monitor and constantly vary our digital activities to best connect with our audience.

Our objectives are to raise awareness of MSF and its activities, inspire South Africans to donate and assist with the recruitment of medical and support staff to work internationally in MSF projects.

The Social Media Intern at MSF Southern Africa will be instrumental in helping the organisation raise awareness and engagement using MSF SA’s social channels.

The intern will also be expected to contribute towards MSF’s objective of becoming increasingly digital.The role will play a direct part in the growth of social engagement; maximising current social channels and identifying new areas of growth.

The role will also play a part in the development and deployment of innovative social media strategies and initiatives.

The Social Media Intern reports to the Senior Online Coordinator and is part of the Digital Team.


Work with the Digital Team to devise and implement evolving digital marketing and keeping the website and social media sites current and ensuring they complement each other. Build relationships with users by creating and sharing content with them, as well as engaging with them on social media.
Design, create and manage promotions and Social ad campaigns.
Monitor and respond to social media trends observed in a proactive fashion by implementing strategies and mini-campaigns.
Measuring and reporting social media activities.
Respond and proactively engage with users of social media.
Track and grow social media engagement rates.
Support other communications related activities when required.

To gain experience of working within a Communications Unit within an international humanitarian organisation.

4. Only candidates with an average mark of 65% or higher will be considered; or candidates with an average mark of 60% or higher, with a Mathematics mark of 70% or higher.

5. Successful candidates will be required to enter into an agreement with Saldanha Bay Municipality whereby they will be obligated to enroll into the internship program at the municipality after successful completion of their studies.

6. Preference will be given to candidates whose parents reside within the Municipality’s municipal area, affording partiality to individuals from historically disadvantaged societal groups and/or are individuals with disabilities, to succeed in Higher Education Institutions.
